The Runaways Movie and Joan Jett Teach Us a Lesson

What does this have to do with network marketing?

Absolutely nothing. Well, almost nothing.

I just like the Runaways. I’ve been a fan forever. Started when I heard Joan Jett back in the 80′s and discovered her previous band, The Runaways. Raw rock-n-roll.

Hang in there for a few minutes, because there is a story here, and not just the Runaways story. Underneath it all this is a story of wanting something so badly, that nothing would stop (Joan Jett) from achieving her goal. She wanted to be in the music industry. She felt her music was good enough but all the record executives that she tried to get to sign her didn’t feel the same way.

Feeling frustrated, the next step (a bold one in fact) was to market her music herself. Joan Jett formed Blackheart Records and promoted her music. It wasn’t easy, then again, nothing is, especially achieving success. It takes time. It takes sweat. It takes a lot of pain. It takes a lot of perseverance.

Joan Jett never quit. That’s why she stands out from her former band members. The others went their own way but Joan persevered with her music. The rest is history, as they say.

The Runaways movie is a testament to her enduring strength and vision and commitment to make rock-n-roll her life. It’s what she has wanted to do since she was a child.

This story illustrates why some make it and others do not. This can be applied to anyone in network marketing.

Kind of like in the beginning, the members are into what they are doing and then the challenges start and some will fade off, doubt themselves, and eventually quit their dreams. How many a talented writer, songwriter, singer, actor, band, or poet never made it because they didn’t have the perseverance to continue.

Joan Jett made it because that’s all she’s ever wanted. She was focused on her career. On her music. She wrote her own rules. She decided what her destiny would be.

So, when you get knocked down, get back up. No matter how many times you get knocked down, get up, it isn’t over until it’s over! Stay focused. Educate yourself. Want to write a book? Reach out to others that can help or use a self-publishing service. But please don’t quit. No matter how many times your friends, family, co-workers think you’re crazy, laugh at you, and poke fun at you. If you truly believe in something do it. Follow your passion and your dreams, they will lead to your success.

Go watch the movie. I certainly will.
